A Resounding LACK of Success

Sunday we decided to give Naiyah her first taste of real food. Well, in as much as green bean flavored goo can be considered real food. She's almost 7 months now so we figured she should be about ready to give it a go. Um...not so much. She wouldn't open her mouth, but that's pretty normal with the first time babies try food. So I just put a little on her lips and let her get a taste. The reaction was NOT what I expected! I figured she'd make some funny faces, smack her lips around and generally just look funny without actually eating much. Well, she looked funny all right. The minute the stuff hit her tongue she turned bright red and started gagging. Over the flavor alone - it's not like I shoved the spoon down her throat or anything! After that passed, she then proceeded to spit every last possible bit out. Not projectile spit, thank goodness, but it was still gross. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, this is after all the same kid who doesn't like the flavor of Tylenol.

But she is always so determined to get at the food on our plates. I wonder what went wrong...

(I should have pics of the debacle up later this week, I just need to find the time to upload them.)
